Shakugan no Shana SEASON 3 Review

So, the final episode of the final season of Shakugan no Shana is finally released. I must say, I didn't expect the ending. When I cried because Khamsin died in ep. 23, I thought that's the only time I'd ever cry for the season, but I was wrong. Since episode 23 was a bit anti-climactic, I was expecting the last episode to be boring and plainly conclusive-- but JC Staff proved me wrong yet again. :O Only then did I understand the whole plan of Yuji.

But really, this whole season, this whole episode just made seasons one and two meaningless. When Yuji said to Shana that giving Hirai's existence would mean Ogata, Ike, Chigusa and everyone would forget about her, I almost cried since the whole season 2 revolved on the bonds they shared together with Shana. But ! When Yuji asked for it and Shana gave it away with no hesitation truly made me cry already. She could give up ANYTHING for Yuji, ANYTHING I tell you. That's the power of love.



Anyway, season 2 down, now they've also made season one meaningless. Yuji has already changed the state of the world, no more denizens eating humans. Which means the reason why Yuji and Shana met does not exist anymore. And since Yuji went to Xanadu with Shana, his existence is also erased. Which again means all the Shana VS Kazumi fighting in both seasons one and two don't mean anything at all.

So, as sweet as the ending was, it was also as painful as hugging a cactus. It's like they only played the viewers' minds. I mean the story is good yes, but it's too painful. They say this is a happy ending, but for me it isn't any near as happy as the first two seasons.

Also the pacing of the story in the middle of the season could be better. All those fighting... they don't make sense. >:O WHY DID THEY KILL KHAMSIN NOOOOOOO.


The ending is painfully beautiful. I am supposed to be contented yet I have this inner feeling telling me that it's just not enough. If only they named this season as Shakugan no Shana Third and not Final. =( I feel the ending isn't enough. I need to see more. What happened to Tanaka and Ogata? What happened to Yuji and Shana in a world without Misaki City? What happened to another love triangle Kazumi is in yet again? And what happened to Justus? So many questions I want to be answered, yet will remain unanswered because this will be the last season there will ever be for the anime. ALL THESE JUST MAKES ME SAD. I have waited for so long for season three. Now I have nothing to wait for anymore. :'( Which is way more sad.

Oh well, I must say though, the animation is really great. HOW COME YUJI BECAME MORE HANDSOME O_O

Cheers to Shakugan no Shana. May there be more OVA's in the future for us to enjoy. Hopefully, OVA's that are related to the whole series.
